NATURAL NATIONAL PARK COCUY



GENERAL INFORMATION



The snowy peaks of Colombia stand out for their long gleaming white spaces, actors embellish when Colombian landscapes. Such destinations become the goal of all mountaineers, environmentalists or travelers who love to live simply alternative experiences.


In this wonderful place away from the noise and pollution of cities and little touched by man, is called Natural National Park and Sierra Nevada Cocuy Cocuy. Thanks to its impressive and extensive snow-capped mountain ranges, is listed as the second largest park Colombia Nevado. It is ideal for adventure tourism and ecotourism medium and high mountains.



Boyacá, Arauca and Casanare, form the enclosure of this important park consisting of 23 snow-capped peaks, waterfalls, lagoons, and some animals frailejones used to living in the cold: the tapir, spectacled bear, the Andean condor, the eagle and the páramo deer, among many others.

What do Natural National Park Cocuy?



This park is right to engage in high mountain hiking and rock climbing or snow, you can enjoy the wildlife that is in place, its birds and others.

The routes are traveled in 8 hours (round trip)

The Lagunillas are crossed between 8 and 12 hours.




SIERRA NEVADA  OF COCUY

The Sierra Nevada is the second Cocuy saw importance in Colombia and has the highest peaks of the Cordillera Oriental. From the edges of snow descends westward to Boyacá highlands, north to arid Chicamocha Canyon and east to the hot plains of the Llanos.


After the Nevados Park is the most visited Sierra hikers, mountaineers and climbers, offering destinations that can compete with the Cordillera Blanca of Peru or Bolivia's Cordillera Real. Also here are, apart from the mountains, very friendly people, cabins with fireplace, horses and hot springs.



While the Sierra de Santa Marta is majestic and impressive for indigenous cultures, and while Nevados Park is special for its volcanoes, in the case of Cocuy wins the beauty and variety of paramunos valleys, peaks covered (yet) by glacial lakes and lagoons, which reflect the image of the vertical walls.

NORTHERN SECTOR (Güicán - Ritacuba)

EASTERN SECTOR AND CROSSING THE VALLEY OF PILLOWS

This section describes the "Return to Cocuy in 5 days" - actually can also take 6 or 7 - which is one of the most beautiful passages of Colombia and reserved for mountaineers trained and experienced in trekking.

The central sector of the Cordillera also has several important peaks and little visited, as are the Picacho (4.990m) and south of Ritacuba Pointed White, the North and South San Pablines (5.180m) and The Castle (5.120m), peak and far more difficult the normal route. SOUTH SECTOR (CONCAVE PULPIT-SUGARLOAF PLAZA)

TIPS TO KEEP ENVIRONMENTALLY COCUY NATIONAL PARK:
